The Best Web Resources for Web and Graphic Designers
Posted by derekbender | Filed under Design

Throughout my travels on the interweb I’ve stumbled upon quite a few gems that have become the basis of my favorites with their amazing resources and sources of inspiration, not to mention they are some of the sites I visit most. These are the best of the best. Some of these sites you may have heard of and others maybe not. Anyway, here is the list for the designers must have web resources.
Photography - iStockPhoto, stock.xchng
iStock is the best stock photography site out there for the buck. Loaded with every possibly picture, it’s the resource for stock photos. Stock.xchng is a close second, not as much diversity in its catalog, but hey, it’s pics are free.
Type - dafont.com
Not the only free font site on the internet, but one of the best. An amazing selection of fonts and all of them free. You can’t go wrong.
Design - K10K, Bittbox
Great sites to get that little something extra to polish off your latest design. I go to k10k mainly for the pixel pattern backgrounds. Bittbox has some amazing Illustrator and Photoshop tutorials and is loaded with free brushes and other resources.
Code - w3schools
By now everyone should know about this site. The first site I look to when I just can’t quite remember that HTML tag or that CSS class. Along with the complete listings of all the HTML tags and CSS classes, it also has dozens of other languages and code help in its library.
Inspiration - Smashing Magazine, CSS Mania, Best Web Gallery, Bak Magazine
Smashing Maazine is not just the best place to find inspiration on the web, but also packed with lists of awesome web tools and resources. Featuring the best websites from all around the internet, Smashing Mag showcases them in one convenient location. CSS Mania and Best Web Gallery are sites that also showcase great sites. Not just about good design, the showcased sites are at the top for their standards compliance and usability also. And lastly, Bak Magazine. If you are searching for inspiration, look no further. Showcasing the best artists, illustrators and photographers from around the world is what Bak is about.
